This bit gave me a chuckle.  Thanks, CFVixen, for the forward.

Ohmyword. It sounded like it went over really well, but I can imagine some audiences it would NOT work on. Yikes!

I am surprised he got so many laughs. I am pretty sure I heard a bunch of women! I am pleased.

HAHAHA!!! I love him!

My childed friend was over the other day (3 and 1 year old boys) and my poor hubby (an electrician) got this from her. He was talking about how working in the terrible heat, in the attic was so difficult. On top of that he has an almost 2 hour drive each way. She came back with how much she'd like to trade jobs with him, and how haaarrrd it is to entertain kids all day.
I am terrible at standing up for myself and I WISH I could have said something, but I didn't. Hubby just shook is head. She is a very nice person...but I know that still doesn't give her the right to insult us in such a way. She knows we don't want kids. Pretty soon I'm going to have to figure out a subtle way to come back at her when she starts giving me the 'being a mommy is so haaard, tiring, best thing I've ever done' CRAP. I cannot tell you (although I'm positive that you already know) how much that grates on my nerves.

How about this reply, Sea Creature:

"Wow, sounds awful. So...if it's so awful being a mom, why did you decide to have kids?"

Sounds like a lot of mothers confuse difficulty with being bored and unstimulated.

Yes, thank you! One of these days, I'm going to have to say something like that. I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunities.
What makes it even more annoying is that she is one of those who 'never thought she would become a mom' and it 'just happened and then she had another one'. I actually put some thought into it and decided it wasn't for me. That's it, end of story!
She also said to me the other day that if it were to happen to me, not to worry, I'd be a good mom. Uh... Yea. I'd HAVE to. I was sure to tell her that I'm not worried about how good of a mom I'd be, I know I could do it. I just DON'T WANT TO. What part of that don't they understand? :p

I can think of a few jobs right off the top of my head that are more difficult:

Astronaut (They put their lives in danger every time they go into space. The same can't be said for mothers).

- Firefighter (Also put their lives in danger every time they go to work).

- police officer (I'm sure dealing with drug addicts or killers is harder than dealing with a 3 year old who's having a temper tantrum because he doesn't want to eat his vegetables).

- Sewage worker (They have to go into pipes that are a foot and a half in diameter, inhaling potentially toxic gases that could kill them if the concentration gets too high).

- Construction worker (especially if they work on tall buildings. There's a danger of them falling and being killed if they're not wearing a safety harness or if it fails).

Those are just a few right off the top of my head. I'm sure the list would be a mile long if I took more time to think of more.
