...and wrote a book about it.

I read it last year, I recommend it, it's a fun and fast read, and when you put it down you're once again so glad you're childfree!

Maybe the article's author had an agenda here, because this woman is not coming off as very sympathetic to me -- and I agree with everything she says! She spends more time complaining about her children than in elaborating on the real problems that pronatalism encourages in society (including racism).

She's not helping our cause. It'd be much more productive if the theme was "not everyone is cut out to be a parent" instead of "children are awful, don't have any."

The reader comments...OMG, the comments. I was feeling masochistic so I read them all.

I still don't understand how parents can be so quick to level the word "selfish" at the CF while refusing to acknowledge that they bred for selfish reasons. Fact: we are all selfish and our selfishness takes different forms. And there's nothing wrong with that, despite what parents say.

I think that in debates about (not) having kids, whoever says "you're selfish!" first should automatically lose the argument--sort of a Godwin's law for the childfree.

SwissBarb, where did you get a hold of her book? I looked on amazon, but it said it would not be released until Aug 4 2009. Did you read the original French version?

K: I live in Switzerland and French is my mother tongue, so yes I jumped on the original version as soon as I heard about it in the media here! :)
