Motherhood may turn a woman into a
miraculous superhero, but it doesn't do much for a marriage. Looks like Christina Aguilera and hubby and
calling it quits after their passionate marriage devolved into something closer to friendship. Hm, wonder what could have caused this to happen?

I'm going to say it: that child is ugly.
I heard that Courtney Cox and David Arquette (also parents) are separating too.
HAHA! @ Sarah... I agree, that kid IS ugly! And I was also going to mention that the Cox and Arquette are breaking up. They only have that one kid, right? She's got some silly trendy name...what is it? Oh duh, I'm on the internet I'll just look it up...

Part of why we decided to remain CF was the fact that a lot of men take the backseat to the kids when they arrive. My husband and I both thought that was an unfair consequence of having kids...I kind of like spoiling my husband and having a lot of time to spend with just him. I know too many couples with young kids that basically become roommates once the kids arrive.
@Spectra: What I find "interesting" (mainly annoying...) about our patriarchal culture is that, for those of us who are CF for reasons that include wanting to be able to spoil our spouse/partners, we're seen as selfish. But then post-baby, if we're not taking care of the man's needs then because we're overworked and underslept, we're selfish. Neat.

Re: the Coco name... Maybe they're hoping the kid will grow up to be the next Coco Chanel and not the jobless loser who still lives in his/her parents basement playing video games all day at 35! lol
Another reason for being CF: being able to have time to really connect with your spouse. It does seem like keeping your marital relationship healthy is next to impossible after children come along. Of course, I don't know these people personally so I can't speak to why their marriages failed; however having children obviously did nothing to lessen the chances of separation.
It makes me think of that movie Date Night.
**SPOILER ALERT!**
At the end where Tina Fey and Steve Carell's characters say that they would do it all over again, i.e. have kids and choose the same life over again. Really?! Their characters obviously learnt nothing from their experience of falling into a marital rut mainly because they have children.
I know, why do I bother?! This is just another movie aimed at propagating the message of children as the "most important achievement" in one's life. Bah humbug! ;)
