Just Your Typical Mom

Guess what the big celebrity news is right now? Heidi Klum strutting her glorious post-baby bod down the Victoria's Secret catwalk. See, ladies - it's just like they always tell us - pregnancy and childbirth is the best thing a woman can do. It makes her BETTER. It makes her more beautiful. It makes her sexier and more glamorous. You can have all the babies you want and still be a hot chick - just look at Heidi. She is proof it is true!

So what are you waiting for?! Pop out those babies! We guarantee you - no stretch marks, no droopy boobs, no weight gain, no big hips.

Whatsamatter? Don't you believe me?

And in only five weeks! See, no big deal!

Celebs can afford to get slim when they have kids because they have: personal chefs, personal trainers, assistants, etc. Not to mention they have more time for these things.

Sure, it's easy to get your body repaired from pregnancy with money, surgeons, personal trainers. Only rich moms can still be "hot."

Genetics plays a huge role, too.

From People magazine: "I don't relax and I don't unwind," Klum says. "I have three children that couldn't care less that I just had a baby. You don't relax when you have four children at home that all want your attention, and it's your duty as a mother to give it to them. My time to relax is when I'm sleeping!"

And when do you sleep exactly?

Yeah...I'll get right on that...

I read in an InStyle article of Heidi and Seal a couple of years ago, that they are also constantly getting it on. Wonder if they are going to be keeping that up? Hot or not, I can't imagine she has the energy to keep up with four kids and a consistently horny hubby. And that certainly cuts into time one could be sleeping.

Oh, that's right, she has cooks, chauffeurs, maids, nannies, etc. to help her manage her time. I can't afford those luxuries, so alas, I remain childfree.

I like Heidi. Her image, anyway. As a BF advocate, it pains me to say this, but I just hope she wasn't nursing. The fact that she jumps into these exercise and diet regimes immediately after giving birth would really harm her breastmilk, ergo her baby. Not my view, by the way. Ask a doc. Also, like CFVixen said, genetics are also a factor. I was back in my old jeans within a week and I didn't exercise at all during my pregnancy. Seriously. I sat around eating fruit and watching trashy TV marathons on Oxygen.

As far as the nannies, chefs, personal trainers, etc, I don't really care, honestly. None of that makes her any less of a "real mom", in my opinion as "real moms" use their own mothers, friends, and other relatives for the meals, babysitting, and other child-rearing assistance. The only difference is that she has the means to pay for said services. When "real moms" gripe about this, it just screams jealousy and resentment. Personally, I don't care to have anything lifted, tucked, or sucked. My "mom body" is kind of a badge of honor. Also, I believe in working for it (and investing in really good shapewear), but that's just me. I admit, I would call foul on a tummy tucked mom who went around claiming she got that way with diet and exercise.

Sorry for the long comment. It's true. Childbirth can wreck your body. I do think a lot of women use pregnancy as a reason to overeat, and having given birth as a reason to remain fat - even though their kids are in high school. That's just sad.

I like Heidi too (big Project Runway fan here) and I hold nothing against her as far as the media fussing over her post-baby bod. I hold the media responsible for implanting this idea in women's heads that they are better after having babies - and this includes their BODIES which we know, in MOST (not all) cases, is not true. MOST women's bodies go south after having children. Of course, beautiful freaks of nature like Heidi are exceptions, but the media does not promote them as such. They present is as normal and what all women can expect. And this is what is wrong.

Nope not buying it. First, these women starve themselves and purge even during pregnancy. And when you can afford a personal chef, nutritionist, personal trainer, all of the cosmetic surgery you can imagine, not to mention the army of personal staff for EACH child....Then I'll believe ya! but until then DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!

Yeah, because everyone has time and money to devote to their looks.
