A Dad's Life
Thanks to Debbie for forwarding this to me. SOO funny and really captures the life of a dad. (Now, all you on-the-fence guys....aren't you just chomping at the bit to have this life?)
My God. No wonder sex goes downhill for these people! I'm so glad that will never happen to my husband, who doesn't equate his masculinity with the size of his screen and who wouldn't know a Disney princess from a hole in the ground. And who, by the way, doesn't dress like he's got one foot in the grave and the other on his riding lawnmower.
What's sad is that I don't think I can share this funny video with any of my guy friends who are dads. In the old days they would have laughed their asses off but now it's just too close to home.
Sadly, I have gone on dates with men like this (when I used to keep an open mind and before I eliminated prospects with small kids). One look at the dad jeans and white sneakers and I'm formulating a polite way to shorten the evening! These guys lose all sense of self and it's very disappointing.
@ash - I don't know the disney princesses either! :)
Ash....where are the rest of the CF dudes?? All the ones near my age (38) took the plunge before they realized it was just an option. Help! Do I have to date 28-yr-olds or suffer tapered khakis and cell phone holsters? Those can't be my only choices...
Eeeek! ;) Oddly enough, I think my "dad" friends might laugh at this. They'd relate to some extent, but I think they'd also have a sense of humor about it. To me, it's just disturbing, and I am SO relieved my husband is not living The Dad Life. ;)
Haha, this is SO close to home for my husband's "dad friends"! I think my husband would rather get needles poked into his eyes than take a 3 year old to the pool for an hour and then come home and have to barbecue food. His idea of a perfect Saturday is to sleep in, throw on some jeans, and go hang out in the garage and fix cars all afternoon, then come in for a little "bedroom action" and an evening of steak and beer. I'm pretty sure those kind of nights don't happen much if you have little kids around.
I have been reading every post on this blog for a few days now...god it just feels so good.(But to remain sensitive to my childed friends I have not been talking about any of this to them...salt in the wound sort of thing. Feels like bad karma.)
And almost like magic, a recently babied new Mommmie (who I was sort of friends with, but not really all that close, we are expats together, so we just sort of "knew" each other for coffees and stuff,) felt the need to send me a two page diatribe out of no-where an hour ago at how selfish I am for not having called her after the birth of the baby. (I did send a congrats text and made several genuine, cooing comments over the new sprog on Facebook.)
What is wrong with these people! I don't even really know them that well! So I read it, didn't respond, and immediately posted this video to my page. C'mon, it's not offensive...it's freaking hilarious! (and a little schadenfreude, as her husband has taken to wearing hoodies and terry cloth wristbands just to show how cool he still is...they worry desperately about becoming "suburban"). I hope she gets it.
I sent it to my on the fence husband hoping he would get the subtle "this will be you too" innuendo too.
